Are these Pewter's deals?
Yes, this is a real market. Our licensing partner reports payments of $350,000 to $650,000 to firms with 60 to 100 people. A federal court filing records Google's $10 million winning bid for Spirit Airlines' records. These transactions belong to other firms, not ours. Before you commit to anything, your offer arrives in writing; many firms receive offers below these figures.
What will I pay?
There is no charge at any point. When a deal closes, our licensing partner pays Pewter a fee. No deal means no fee.
Who handles each part, and who is your client?
Pewter qualifies and finds the opportunity, assesses your records, presents the offer and coordinates the deal. The licensing partner makes that offer, enters the license with you and pays you. You'll know its identity before signing anything. Since the partner pays our fee, we're neither your lawyer nor your agent. We aren't a law firm or registered broker-dealer; we recommend having your own counsel review the agreement.
Does the data leave my ownership?
No. You license an agreed copy that has been de-identified. Your original files remain unchanged, as does your ownership of them.
Could clients or employees be identified?
Before delivery, we remove or replace names, contact details, account numbers, credentials and payment details. You may exclude regulated, privileged or third-party records. Since no method eliminates every risk, review the process and a sample before signing. Our approach to records.
Who can access records before I sign?
Only with your agreement. We may request a small sample to assess quality before an offer, and Pewter or the licensing partner may review it. You decide what the sample contains and may decline. The full export occurs only after you sign.
Who uses the data, and how?
Authorized AI developers use it to train and evaluate models, as your agreement defines. The terms you approve set out exclusivity and permitted uses. Our free owner's guide, Before You Sell Your Data, covers terms and questions to resolve before signing.
How much time will my team need?
Expect to spend a few hours: two or three calls, plus a short inventory of your systems. If an export is required, your IT person or provider runs it while we coordinate. No one needs to create new data or tidy anything up.
What if I don't know what data we have?
That's true for most owners. On the call, tell us which tools you've used over the years, such as email, shared drives, or your accounting or operating system, and we'll figure out what's there. To estimate it yourself first, our free guide explains where to find the numbers in Google, Microsoft 365, Slack and a dozen other tools.
Why move quickly?
Labs are purchasing now. A single AI data company has committed $1 billion for the coming twelve months. The value is in the history you still hold: archives are deleted when subscriptions lapse or a firm winds down, and then that value disappears.
